Problem
User
Learners reported (through User Interviews) feeling isolated on the platform, with limited opportunities to connect with others who shared similar learning goals. Users wanted to engage with their peers to exchange ideas and support one another, but the existing platform didn’t provide the tools for this.
Business
GrowthSchool was missing a critical opportunity to leverage community-driven learning. Research showed that users who interacted with peers were more likely to stay engaged and complete courses. Without a way to foster peer-to-peer connections, the platform was underperforming in terms of community engagement.
Research Insights
User feedback and engagement data revealed that users who formed connections with their peers were significantly more likely to stay engaged and complete courses. This pointed to the need for features that facilitated meaningful community interactions.
Solution
We introduced a set of Community Features that allowed users to connect with others who shared similar learning goals. These features included peer lists, community onboarding, and interaction cards. By encouraging collaboration and peer learning, these additions helped boost community participation.
Why this feature? Research suggested that peer connections were a strong motivator for learners. By fostering a sense of community, we could drive higher engagement and course completion rates.
Impact
Community Engagement: Increased by 30%, with more users actively participating in discussions and peer-to-peer interactions.
Peer Connections: 40% of users connected with at least one peer through the new community features.
User Retention: Users who participated in community features had a 20% higher retention rate than those who did not.
Enhanced community features to foster meaningful connections between peers, driving higher engagement and collaboration within the platform.
